This garden is only just over 6 years old and is planted on the rich Forest Creek alluvial soils (probably still got gold in it )
This garden is the joining of an Australian native and Mediterranean garden and is still in its infancy, slowly developing over time although it does give an impression of being here for much longer.
Starting with only four trees on the block when the property was purchased in 2018, planting began in 2019 and the majority from 2020 onwards.
The brand new native garden consisting primarily of grevilleas, native grasses, wood iron and stone began in September 2025 with the first plantings in November. This will be a challenging garden as it is quite exposed to the elements. There are also several other Australian natives planted in this garden. All the stone in this garden was unearthed on site.
Due to the harsh conditions ranging from severe frosts in winter, to extreme heat in our summers, the plantings are designed to withstand these conditions and I have adopted the attitude that if it doesn’t survive here without constant nurturing, then it shouldn’t be planted here.
Stone walls, gravel paths and wonderful stone slabs create a very natural feel as you wander through the garden. Again, all the stone was uncovered on the block.
Foliage is as important as flowering in this garden, giving wonderful natural colour and form.
